Frequently asked questions
What does app design cost in the UK?
Our published prices are £12,000 for the Blueprint, £30,000 for Blueprint plus Design, and from £75,000 for Blueprint, Design and Build. Across the UK market you will see anything from a few thousand pounds for a freelancer to several hundred thousand for a large consultancy. The wide range is mostly a question of how much thinking is included before anyone opens a design tool. A cheap design that has to be rebuilt is the most expensive option available.
How long does app design take?
A Blueprint typically runs a few weeks. Design usually takes a couple of months for a first version, depending on how many screens and states the product needs. Build is the longest stage and varies most with scope. We give you a dated timeline at the end of the Blueprint rather than a guess at the start, because a guess at the start is worth nothing to either of us.
What is included in UI/UX design?
UX covers research, information architecture, user flows and wireframes — the structure of the product and the order things happen in. UI covers the visual layer: typography, colour, iconography, layout, motion, and a component library so everything stays consistent as the app grows. Both include a clickable prototype, accessibility checks, and handover files your developers can build from without guessing.
Do you build the app as well as design it?
Yes. The Max package covers Blueprint, Design and Build from £75,000, including development, backend, QA and store submission. If you already have engineers, take the Pro package and we will hand over designs and a system built for the way your team works. We are happy to sit in your sprint ceremonies during the build either way.
Do you work with early-stage startups?
Often. The £12,000 Blueprint exists partly for this: it gives a founder a specification, a costed plan and something concrete to take to investors without committing to a full design and build budget first. We have worked with founders at idea stage and with companies well past their Series A. What we look for is a real problem and someone serious about solving it.
What happens after launch?
Launch is the middle of the project, not the end. We review analytics against the outcomes agreed in the Blueprint, watch how people actually use what we made, and prioritise changes from that rather than from opinion. Ongoing design and development support is arranged separately, so you are not locked into a retainer you have stopped needing.
How do you work with clients outside London?
Comfortably. Much of our work is remote, including clients across the UK, Europe and the United States, and Climate Week NYC was delivered for an event on another continent. Workshops run over video, prototypes are shared as links, and progress is visible continuously rather than in a monthly report. If you would rather do the first workshop in person, Shoreditch is easy to reach and you are welcome.
What makes you different from other London app design agencies?
Three things. Our prices are published, so you are not put through a discovery call to find out whether you can afford us. The Blueprint is a standalone deliverable you own outright, even if you never work with us again. And we are a design agency that ships — Amore Pizzeria has processed over 50,000 orders, Pretty Lavish’s marketing messages went from being read 30% of the time to 80%. Over 30 verified Clutch reviews and recognition from Clutch as a top app developer in London, from clients who can say whether we did what we promised.
